His characters are portrayed so well that any screenwriter would have no problem writing them for the screen. But during the adaptation of the novel, the seemingly insoluble problem was the duration. Condensing a hundred years of family and national history was an impossible task. After nearly 60 years since its publication, the novel has found a cinematic home on Netflix. Only streaming can make it real and the first 2 episodes are very promising. Great cinematography, art direction and respect for the characters. The above voice is necessary to occasionally bring out the beautiful prose of García Marquez. The plot unfolds smoothly, richly and deeply. I love it and was a bit skeptical if the magical world of GGM could translate to the screen. Wall, that’s a success so far in my book.
